After graduating Berkley College of Music in 1980, and playing as a professional musician in shows from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and Georgia, to Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York and even Toronto Canada, Michael Newell decided to open a lessons studio that could serve the Lakelands of South Carolina. Newell's Music Studio started in a small room of the Greer building in Greenwood, SC. One small name change later and Newell's Music embarked on a forty year journey teaching generations of musicians from South Carolina's Upstate. The Newell's Music team is excited to carry this tradition to the next generation as well.
